the frugal gamer redux
Published by james April 26th, 2005 in teh geek masturlast week i picked up a used copy of midnight club 3, traded in three old games (dead or alive 3, tony hawk pro skater 3 & wreckless: the yakuza missions). after the trade-ins, it came to $15. gamestop’s doing a deal where you get ten extra gamebucks for every three trade-ins (sports and wrestling titles do not apply). this week they’re also doing a “buy two used games get one free” promotion. so i stopped by yesterday, returned mc3, bought it again along with the punisher and got prince of persia: the warrior within for free. the total was $42. so i ended up with $150 worth of games for a total of $67. go gamestop!
the punisher is a blast (ha!) so far but i’m sure that has much more to with me being a fan of the comic (the script for the game was actually penned by garth ennis & jimmy palmiotti) and third-person shooters (max payne, dead to rights) than anything else. prince of persia looks pretty good so far. the combat is more developed than sands of time, i just hope they leave the amazing platforming intact.
new H2 maps came out yesterday. i downloaded them and got online with a big group from LAG. played some ninjanaut, assault & capture the flag. the new maps (one small, one large) are really well laid out with an almost UT feel, especially with some of the interaction with the environment. i’ll wait until june 28 to get the other content. in other news, i’m much better at H2 when i don’t play that often.
