in the midst of redesigning the aod site - the links page specifically - i found out that charles from baltimore’s landspeedrecord! has made the entire band’s recorded output - six cds’ worth - available for download. i’ve really liked LSR! since getting one of their records a few years ago and you should totally get yourself some music now on crappiestsongever.com (and leave a donation while you’re at it). is that the greatest URL in music or what?

i was in wawa the other day and heard what i thought was a new or unreleased sundays song, except it had awful, awful lyrics. listen to this sample of natalie imbruglia’s ‘wrong impression’ (if it doesn’t work, check your pop-up settings or use IE) and then marvel at the fact that gavin and wheeler aren’t listed in the songwriting credits. jeez.

it figures: M.I.A.’s ‘galang’ is featured in a honda commercial. on one hand, it’s disappointing but on the other i’d rather see the $$$ go to her than say, ‘america’s girl’ jessica simpson.

I’m almost positive I heard a Stephen Malkmus song in a Sears commercial last night.

    yeah, it’s ‘phantasies’.

i used to be really against the idea of artists i like being in commercials but nick drake’s ‘pink moon’ in a VW ad started to change my mind. i still strongly admire artists who turn down commercial endorsements but why shouldn’t they get money that would otherwise go to U2, lenny kravitz, madonna or sting?
