serenity WOW
Published by james October 1st, 2005 in mr. excitement, teh geek masturcaught the 4:45 showing of serenity this afternoon. let’s hear it for matinee pricing! despite not following firefly or even buffy the vampire slayer (in fact, my only exposure to joss whedon is his run on astonishing x-men, which i really like), i enjoyed this movie thoroughly. the story is smart but not overly geekcentric, the cast, with an exception or two, is really strong (chiwetel ejiofor is awesome as the alliance assassin), the dialogue is snappy, funny and tight (just go along with the fact that in the future, people talk like characters from westerns and exclaim in chinese) and the movie moves at a frantic, breakneck pace. heck, ron glass - aka detective ron harris from barney miller - is in it! don’t be fooled by the low-rent trailer or get turned off by the wimpy “serenity” name; it’s easily one of the best sci-fi movies i’ve seen in recent years and has all but washed the acrid taste of star wars I-III out of my mouth.

acrid is one of my favorite words.
I thought serenity was pretty good, but the overdub on the vocals in the 1st 1/4 of the movie is terrible.
do you mean just the dubbing? didn’t notice that at all! i’m going to see it again today so i’ll check it out.
