escapism ho!
Published by james October 11th, 2005 in teh geek masturwell, it’s october; time come in from the cold and retreat to the warm, dare i say motherly glow of the television. here’s a few quick things i wrote about some of the games i’ve been playing on the old xbox.
hulk: total destruction: my hands hurt for a few days after finishing this a few weeks ago and now i’m almost ready to play through it again! it’s suprisingly deep, difficult and an absolute blast to play. by the end of the game i was hammer throwing tanks at fighter jets. let’s think about that for a second.
indigo prophecy: touted as an ‘interactive movie’, i’d been reading about it and getting increasingly interested in this game over the past few months and it lives up to its billing. the mood, story, characters, dialogue, pacing and voice acting are top notch and the control (to be more accurate, the interface) is innovative and intuitive. and if that doesn’t grab you, the protagonist is an IT professional. sweet. the only gripe i can come up with is that the graphics are are a mixed bag.
doom 3: i would’ve liked to have gotten this upon its release but i have a hard time justifying spending $50 for a game nowadays, especially when prices come down so quickly. anyway, doom 3 is flat-out amazing. i haven’t been this scared while playing a videogame since resident evil 4!
