0 Comments Published by james November 26th, 2005 in recipes for monkeysif you’ve ever been to a diner with me, you know that nine times out of ten i will order a platter of chicken croquettes. i know, i’m disgusting. anyway, with all the leftover turkey in my refrigerator i decided to put together a turkey croquette recipe (this makes 4 medium croquettes, serves 2):

0 Comments Published by james November 22nd, 2005 in mr. excitement, teh geek masturmy birthday was on saturday and we opted for a more low-key day than monica’s night of roller der-bauchery. in the morning i worked on a print server problem at tortilla press while monica got her hair cut, then we went to the cherry hill public library book sale. that place is like the freaking [...]
for monica’s birthday, a bunch of us went to scenic carman ave. in camden nj to check out the philly roller girls‘ first exhibition match sunday night. i’ve never seen roller derby before so it was a new experience. a TON of people came out and it was such an amazing cross-section of subcultures. punkers, [...]

sunday’s sold-out spoon/american music club/mary timony show was awesome and well worth the hike up to brooklyn. a polish national hall by day and venue by night, the warsaw is a really cool place to see shows. no smoking AND there’s pierogis and kielbasa readily available for purchase and consumption.
mary timony had a different drummer [...]

2 Comments Published by james November 2nd, 2005 in music, reviewsmy initial exposure to M.I.A. was critics’ darling arular and despite having utterly no sense of funk or rhythm, i fell in love with that record. a bunch of remixes and mashups later, i finally got around to checking out the M.I.A. / diplo: piracy funds terrorism, vol. 1 mixtape and it’s awesome, if only [...]
picked up total overdose: a gunslinger’s tale in mexico last week. taking the free-roaming nature of GTA, the shootdodging of max payne, combo-encouraging gameplay reminiscient of of tony hawk, as well as the feel of robert rodriguez films. i have a number of issues with the clunky driving, unmarked save points and the gratuitous use [...]
