will my plane crash tomorrow?

a few weeks ago, i finally made it out to aunt berta’s kitchen. it was everything i had hoped for. i had the roasted chicken, baked macaroni & cheese and then split potato salad & collard greens with pat. prices are reasonable, you can eat in or take out. you should totally check it out if you’re ever in oaklyn nj.

monday night my friend randy and i grabbed dinner at the tortilla press. i had an awesome meal of crab & avocado quesadillas and ceviche salad and completely forgot my leftovers. dang it. afterwards we checked out the taping of live at the writer’s house at upenn. the piece i found most interesting was daphne carr’s why on earth (or elsewhere) am i enjoying christian rock? but all the writers/readers were very good. buried beds played between readings. now THAT is a band. their new record is supposed to be available for purchase on their website by tomorrow night’s airing. they’d better; there’s nothing more disappointing than a band not getting their records out in a timely manner *cough*.

i read screwjack the other night. it’s an extremely short collection of short stories - you could probably knock it off in less than half an hour - but they are typically frenzied and worth the read. i wouldn’t pay the $10.50 for it though. recommended for HST completists only.

    hey man,
yeah, screwjack is very, very short but excellent. the one story of his drunk friend made it worthwhile. its one of those moments when his insanity reached an emotional depth you wouldn’t expect, while making you laugh out loud, in turns…

and aunt berta’s was also nothing short of excellent.
