yesterday and today i ran into a few netlogon errors:

Event Source: NETLOGON
Event Category: None
Event ID: 5723
Description:
The session setup from the computer X failed because there is no trust account in the security database for this computer. The name of the account referenced in the security database is X$.

logging on locally, removing the workstation from the domain and then re-adding it seems to have solved the problem. i’m wondering if it’s indicative of something else being amiss on the network.

for piece of mind i checked and reconfigured DNS on my DC yesterday in line with KB260371. added the domain name to the list of DNS suffixes and added a reverse lookup zone.
