movie woes redux
Published by james March 17th, 2006 in film, reviewsthe ritz let me down two weeks in a row! i was excited to get out of work and catch the 5:05 matinee of v for vendetta this afternoon. it was more like v for vat the hell was that? an abysmal attempt at portraying a pseudo orwellian future (frankly, equilibrium even did a better job of this), oversimplified themes of revolution vs. christian-based totalitarianism, two main characters that i could care less about, bumbling supporting characters, coupled with oddly flat and boring direction were enough to get me to walk out on it a little over halfway through. and i never walk out on movies. i was going to sneak into something else but everything interesting had just let out. not recommended. on the plus side, brick opens next week.

hmmm… i was so excited to go see this movie and wanted to last nite. but after reading your review, a handful of mixed reviews, and after watching the trailers again, i eventually changed my mind. so i don’t think it will kill me to wait until this comes out on dvd.
i thought the wachowski bros. would return to form with this one but take all the stuff you didn’t like about matrix 2 & 3 (the talking, the pseudo-intellectualism, the length) and take out the stuff you liked (cool action sequences, off the page camerawork and direction) and multiply it by ten.
