dimmed lights, dark pop
Published by james March 29th, 2006 in music, reviewslast night’s the silence kit / i love you but i’ve chosen darkness show was a beautiful time. they fit really well together, playing that dark pop that kids go bananas over. TSK opened by channelling some early cure (’geometric’) and then added an unexpectedly upbeat number during their set, while ILYBICD at times recalled joy division, new order and the magnetic fields (’according to plan’) - that is, if any of those bands had the incredible hulk for a drummer.
if i haven’t mentioned it before, the new TSK record is amazing and you should buy a copy today (hint hint). after the show i plunked down $28 for ILYBICD’s full-length (i only had a few tracks from the EP before) and shirt, the former i’ll write about soon but even after just two listens i realize that i probably should have sprung for the vinyl too.
