next-gen x

let me preface this by stating that i haven’t bought my own system since the PS1. over the years all my consoles have been gifts; my father-in-law won an xbox and gave it to me, matt & kellee gave me their gamecube and just last month, monica got me a PS2 (god of war could be the best game i’ve played all year). i’d been holding off on next-gen gaming until all the new consoles had been released. the PS3 is totally out of the question and the wii, while it looks totally fun, just doesn’t seem practical. other than the new legend of zelda: twilight princess (which is available for gamecube), neither have an inspiring lineup of games either. however, i’ve been really impressed with the 360 and decided that i’d hold out for a really good deal on the premium system.

after trolling the CAG forums this weekend, i bought one along with two games (gears of war and need for speed: carbon, both on sale at $20-$25 off normal price). BB was giving away call of duty 2 and a gift card with purchase. i used the gift card to order the limited edition splinter cell: double agent (also $20 off). i promptly took COD2 to wal-mart and exchanged for capcom’s dead rising. under normal circumstances, all this would have run me about $670 but along with some BB gift cards of my own from work, so i got away with spending very little ($348) of my own money. great success!
